Long overdue Update

I know I know once again I have fallen behind on the updates. Here it goes:

On January 13th:  we finally had our physical therapy evaluation that we have been on a waiting list for for months now. I think Aug/Sept to be exact. Her physical therapist's name is Christina. She did about a 45 minute evaluation of her and came to the conclusion that she has weak back muscles and slightly weak ankles. She wants to see Aryssa once a week on Wednesdays at 10am. She scored her as being 5% mobile and that is because she is at least rolling or else she would have scored 0%. Now we know what the problem is and now we can work on strengthening those muscles so she can start crawling, then walking and then so on.

January 18th:  she got her 1 year shots. As usual she was a tired and little bit cranky for a few days. Well come the the following week she was throwing up and I was worried she might have an ear infection so I took her to the pediatrician on the 25th because she got a fever of 101.7. The doctor checked her ears which looked fine (thank GOD!) and said there is a stomach bug going around and she probably caught it. Well she was absolutely fine (magically it seemed) by that afternoon. Go figure! Well on the 28th she started to develop these red bumps around where she had gotten the Chicken pox vaccine. I called the doctor's office and they said she was just probably have a small reaction to the shot and to just keep an eye on it if it gets bigger or seems painful. Well by that weekend she was the most miserable baby I have ever seen. She screamed and cried and screamed and cried all day and all night THE WHOLE WEEKEND. Rob and I were about ready to pull our hair out. Sunday afternoon she started to get the purple spots all over her face. I took her in first thing Monday morning. Turns out she is just having a reaction to the shots as suspected and that it can happen up to 2 weeks after the shots were given. The doctor drew blood to check her platelet count because of the purple spots. All came back normal. Conclusion: all the screaming and crying she did over the weekend is just bursted blood vessels in her face. So if you thought I was exaggerating on the screaming and crying...now you know understand I wasn't.  She was all better and back to her normal self within 2 days and the bumps are almost gone. Praise the Lord.

She has only had 2 visits so far to the physical therapist and she is already doing more than she was so I guess it is helping. She was laying down in the crib flat the other day,  no pillows or blankets and I went to check on her and she was sitting up. She has never done that on her own without being propped up somewhat. She is started to get into the crawling position more and rocking just can't figure out how to move which ends up with her getting so angry she throws herself down and screams. The therapists has also been working with her on teaching her if she is sitting up how to turn her body around if by shifting her legs. On Sunday, I didn't see it happen but I had set her down with some toys and walked away for maybe 2 minutes and looked over at her and she was completely turned around. I know these probably sound like such little things to others but it is HUGE to us because she has been so far behind. Everyone keeps saying that each hospital visit usually throws a baby behind at least a month in their developes/milestones. Well she has had 4 hospital stays her first year of life so that is about how far behind she is at this point. She is further behind than that as for her speech/babbling but that is due to lack of oral skills from lack of eating. That will come in time.  She has started making "d" sounds which is the first constanant she has made so far. That means as much as I wanted her to say momma first she is probably going to say dadda. Either way I will be estactic. Oh and she has also learned in the last couple of days to do a head bang. She looks like she has been to a rock concert or something. It is so cute, everytime she does it we laugh so she does it even more. She is such a character and loves to laugh and make other laugh. She has also turned into a attention hogger. She thinks everyone should be paying attention to her... even complete strangers. If she is near a stranger and they don't say something to her... she will scream at them. It is hilarious, she is so spoiled because everyone flocks to her loving her red hair. Well that is all I can think of right now. Sorry I have fallen behind again. Our schedule is so busy since now we have 4 therapies a week. Feeding therapy on Tuesdays and Thursdays and physical and developmental therapies on wedensdays.
I will try to get some more pictures up soon.
