Aryssa First Time drinking from Cup (6mo3wk2day)

Aryssa's therapy this week went as usual. However Jodi started cup feeding her on Wednesday and she did ok with it. She would let her get to her lips if it had water in it but NOT formula. She just hates the formula-not sure what we can do about that though. Well today (thursday) everytime she sees a cup she wants to drink from it. It's so funny. For lunch today I had her some cereal, peaches, and green beans and a cup of water. As soon as she saw me set down the cup on her high chair she immediatly started to grab for it. She drank from the cup with swallowing (excellant). I had her cereal mixed a little bit watery but not much. I offered her cereal and she didn't take it. I added more water to make it liquidey and jumped up to grab a paper towel from the kitchen, when I got back she had picked up the bowl of cereal and had the bowl to her mouth trying to drink it. It was so funny, so I helped her drink some and then she put it down and grabbed for the cup of water. The whole thing was just amazing to watch, normally I probably would have cried of happiness but I was just going with the flow of what she wanted to do. She grabbed for the bowl with peaches in it and tried to drink it but it is thick so she wasn't able to get much (not sure if any was swallowed). Then she grabbed the green beans and tried to put it to her mouth, I added some water to the green beans to see if maybe that would make her like it more so she did and I am pretty sure she might have swallowed some. Well it was a very successful lunch feeding she had no more cereal in her bowl by the end. I think it was probably about 2 tablespoons (estimate) and she maybe swallowed I would say more than half of it. GREAT JOB ARYSSA!
