Aryssa's Surgery (9.5 months old)

Last night with the NG tube. YAY!

Few hours after surgery

The Adorable Lamb costume the Hospital gave to Aryssa for the reverse trick or treating.

Aryssa had her surgery on Thursday. Everything went well. They took us to this little room that was full of brand new toys (all donated) and we got to pick one out for her. There was so many it took me a few minutes to decide because I wanted her to have an AWESOME toy.
I was a nervous wreck the whole time she was in surgery which was about an hour. I had really thought that I might be able to be with her until they put her under but they don't because they put her under in the OR room and it is a sterile environment. =( I cried when they her took from from my arms. My heart just broke. Well they called us and let us know when they put her under, called us on the phone when they were just finishing up, and then surgeon Dr. Eubanks came and talked to us and let us know everything went beautifully. They came and got us after we talked to Dr. Eubanks and took us to recovery. Poor baby was crying. I didn't even recognize her cry due to because they had to put tubes down to ventilate her during surgery so her throat was hoarse. After about 45 minutes in there they took us upstairs to our room. She was really starting to cry a lot so they came in and gave her some morphine. Next thing I know there is more nurses in the room and then a doctor. They had to put her on Oxygen due to her O2 levels were dropping. Rob was getting freaked out about her being on oxygen because it gave him flashbacks from her birth and having to be on oxygen for 3 weeks. They said it's not that abnormal to need a little bit of oxygen after surgery due to coming out of anesthesia and her being SO sleepy while getting morphine. Luckily she didn't need to be on the oxygen for too long. Needless to say we didn't have them give her any more morphine just Tylenol which was a suppository so it worked pretty fast after getting it.
Thursday evening they were giving away Halloween costumes for the Halloween trick or treating on Friday. Rob went down and picked out the cutest little Lamb costume. I had bought her a Ladybug costume a few weeks ago but I forgot to bring it. Friday comes around and I think Aryssa was so active and was definitely feeling better as she was kicking her legs up and rolling onto her belly and just squirming all over the place. She is all over the place and into everything she can reach. I keeps pulling on her IV tubing and chewing on it. She kicks all the nurses that come in and mess with her. She is so funny. She is already doing different things with her mouth. She is trying to do "raspberries" but hasn't quite got it figured out so she just spits, it is so funny and cute. I hope this is a GREAT sign that she is going to be not so aversive to things done with her mouth. Well that is all for now we are going to take her for her wagon ride as soon as our nurse finds us a wagon.
