Aryssa had feeding therapy today after being absent for 2 weeks due to her illnesses. She did WONDERFUL for Ms. Angie. She was taking her rice cereal without any gagging. She still isn't swallowing but lately she has been gagging with food in her mouth so it was awesome to see her doing so well with it. She still "suckles" the food off the spoon and keeps it to the front of her mouth but it is better than nothing or gagging. Angie and I were so proud. She didn't fuss not once and lasted her entire 30 minutes which she normally only lasts 15-20 mins before she usually starts fussing but today there was absolutely no fussing. She took all of her cereal off the spoon. I hope this keeps up and the gagging goes away. She has been off her oral feeding schedule since she has been sick so hopefully now that she is feeling better, she can get back on by the weekend.
After feeding therapy we had and appt. with a local ENT doctor to discuss her possible tongue tie. She does have a mild one according to the doctor but he said she is too young to snip it so we have to bring her back in 6 months (when she is 18months old) and have it looked at again. He does not feel that it is causing her any issues with feeding due to it being so mild but we will see how she is doing in 6 months and then he might snip it. Before she was not sticking her tongue out and when trying to feed her from the spoon she seemed "unable" to move her tongue properly which is what led us to see about a possible tongue tie. However since she has gotten over her illness, the last few days she has been sticking her tongue out like crazy. She is constantly sticking it and her therapist said that is great because she is probably trying to "stretch" out her tongue tie and build up that muscle which will help with her feeding hopefully. We shall see. She has developmental therapy tomorrow with Ms. Chrissie so hopefully she will be just as good for her as she was for Ms. Angie today. Aryssa even bought Ms. Chrissie a Christmas present, she helped me pick it out and everything. It is the one she picked out of the selections I showed her so hopefully Ms. Chrissie likes it. Chrissie called to check up on how Aryssa was feeling and said even if she was unable to do her therapy if she wasn't feeling good still, she wanted to stop by tomorrow to give her a little gift. Boy she is getting presents from everyone. I am wondering where I am going to put all of her stuff after all she is getting for Christmas AND her birthday next month. Wish us luck on her doing well in her developmental therapy tomorrow.
