Finally Home

We finally got discharged from the hospital at 3:45 pm on Monday. Boy o'boy hospitals can't seem to make the discharge process go any faster. We woke up so anxious because we knew we would get to go home. We showered and packed all of our stuff up and Rob went and put it all in the car. I gave Aryssa a sponge bath. The surgeon Dr. Eubanks came to check on her (off the clock because he wanted to see us personally before we left) and said she was doing very well. He is such a nice man I wish all the doctors that cared for her through our stay at the hospital was as nice as him. He really cares about his patients and it shows in his actions and personality. We have to drive back in a month for a check up. She has bandage tape on that has to stay on for 2 weeks and then we can pull it off and resume normal baths and activities. YAY!

We got home around 8 pm and Mom and Dad met us at the house (they live an 1 hr 15 mins away) to bring us our dogs Romeo & Juliet and also Lasanga and Cheese Bread for dinner. That was so good especially after eating hospital food for almost a week. They we so thrilled to see Aryssa without a tube taped on her face. They were pleased with how HAPPY Aryssa was. She was laughing and doing her "raspberries" and growling (yes she growls like a dog) and jumping all over the place in her Jumper. She is so much happier with that NG tube out of her nose and throat.

We worked with the Dietitian Katie at the hospital to make a new feeding schedule to allow Aryssa and Me to get more sleep and be able to work more during the day with oral feeding instead of constant tube feeding all day. We had a feeding pump delivered today so that she can be fed more at night by a pump instead of Mommy having to wake up every 3 hours to feed her which always resulted in her having to be woke up as well. I am looking forward to her getting more sleep at night. I have always stressed that I don't think it is good for her developmentally to not get her "much needed" sleep a normal 9.5 month old should be getting. I am really hoping this will all work out as planned. By doing the pump at night that frees up more time during the day to work trying to get her to eat orally. I have hooked her up to the feeding pump tonight hopefully it will be working correctly due to having read through a manual that is confusing and is written in like 20 different languages. The guy that brought it out didn't really know how to work it so I had to kinda figure it out on my own. **Fingers Crossed**

Here is her new feeding schedule:
8am - 8 pm Bolus feeds (gravity feeds done by me) every 4 hours
10pm- 6am Continuous feeds (feeding pump) of a goal of 2 oz an hour

I want to thank everyone for all the thoughts, prayers and concern through all of this. My baby girl is so special and I just know that everyone's prayers and thoughts will carry her through all of this and she will grow up to be a beautiful healthy smart little girl (who eats...LOL). One day all of this will be a distant memory much like the dreaded weeks of when she was on oxygen after she was born. That is all for now I will keep everyone posted with her progress. Keep praying for Aryssa to start eating on her own. Good Night
